CNN has confirmed that Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden’s camp removed a Washington Redskins logo from an old photo it supplied for use in a documentary that aired this week.
According to The Washingtonian, CNN aired Fight for the White House: Joe Biden’s Long Journey, this past Monday. The program included a photo of Biden and one of his sons at a sports stadium. However, the photo used differed from one which Biden himself posted on Facebook earlier in the year. The main difference between the photos is that the original shows the child wearing a hat with the logo of the (Team Formerly Known As The) Washington Redskins. The logo was entirely removed in the image that CNN included in its documentary.
Of course, social media picked up on this right away:
So it looked like we had a regular “whodunit” on our hands, until The Washingtonian dropped this little tidbit.
“As with any biographical documentary, we ask the subject for photos and videos,” a CNN source tells Washingtonian via email. “We received this picture and many others from the Biden campaign, and any additional inquiries should be sent their way. Future airings will include the original photo.”
And just like that, the mystery was solved!
This is something straight off of the pages of a political satire site (which is different from us – we see real life as funnier than satire!) What makes this story even wackier is that this is the same photo that Steve Guest, the GOP’s “Rapid Response Director” was criticized online for sharing with the caption, “Hey Joe Biden, are you still a Redskins fan?” We guess that maybe he’s not?
With that said, Biden remains the gift that keeps on giving. He and his campaign seemingly commit an unforced error a day. Not that we’re complaining – it’s keep us chock full of content to provide you daily! So add another one to the tally.
