Why Isn’t the Media Covering What These Gazans Are Really Saying?

A video from late May shows Gazans blaming Hamas for their plight and praising Trump—so why is the mainstream media ignoring it?

After watching a recent video, we’re left wondering: Why did the mainstream media choose not to show you what these Gazans are really saying about America, Hamas, and President Donald Trump?

You’d think that any story featuring people in Gaza openly blaming Hamas for their suffering — and even thanking Donald Trump — would be headline news. After all, we’ve spent months watching American media outlets offer non-stop coverage of the conflict, all while carefully curating what voices get airtime.

But a video released this past May by the Center for Peace Communications is challenging that carefully crafted narrative — and, unsurprisingly, it did not receive the mainstream news coverage we think it deserved.

Why? Because it doesn’t fit the story they want to tell.

The Video: What It Shows and Why It Matters

The Center for Peace Communications, a group that says on its X profile that its mission is to help “Palestinians, Lebanese, and Syrians share testimony about life under Hamas and Hezbollah,” released a striking video from Gaza in late May. In it, ordinary Gazans speak out candidly while receiving humanitarian aid.

But what makes this footage extraordinary isn’t just the setting — it’s what the people say.

They don’t toe the expected line.

Several Gazans place blame squarely on Hamas for the dire conditions they’re enduring. One even declares, “Bless Trump. Thank you, Trump,” in gratitude for American aid efforts. The tone isn’t one of defiance toward the West — it’s one of clarity and frustration with their own leadership.

“A message from the people to Hamas: give it up and go away. You have destroyed Gaza,” one Gazan said.

“[Hamas leader] Osama Hamdan is in Qatar, well-fed, sleeping under air conditioners with his wives and children,” he continued. “Come take a look at the people; they are hungry.”

A Narrative-Buster the Media Doesn’t Want You to Watch

This is the kind of footage that changes perceptions — if people are allowed to see it.

For months, Americans have been bombarded with a one-dimensional storyline: Gazans are helpless victims of Israeli aggression. Period. End of sentence. America, we’re told, is complicit in their suffering — full stop.

Nuance is rare, and Hamas’s role is often treated like a footnote — if it’s mentioned at all.

But here’s the inconvenient truth: Not all Gazans support Hamas. And this video proves it.

That’s exactly why this footage is dangerous to the media status quo. If the public starts seeing Palestinians as complex individuals — some of whom oppose Hamas, express pro-American sentiments, or (Heaven forbid) acknowledge Israel’s right to defend itself — then the entire binary narrative begins to unravel.

That threatens the media’s formula: outrage → division → ratings → revenue.

Even worse, a video like this threatens the political establishment on both sides of the aisle — both of which benefit from keeping Americans emotionally reactive and ideologically divided.

Do All Gazans Support Hamas? Clearly, It’s Not That Simple

One argument often heard from pundits who defend the prevailing narrative is that Gazans “chose” Hamas in a democratic election.

That’s technically true — if you’re talking about one election back in 2006, with no follow-up vote since.

But how shallow is that point? Americans change their leadership every two to four years. Sure, we can complain about how we vote — but we do get the opportunity to change course.

So let’s give the people of Gaza a little grace. This video may represent a shift in public opinion — a reevaluation of Hamas after years of war, deprivation, and international isolation. That shift is very human — and the world should take notice.

Instead, the media pretends these voices don’t exist.

It’s Time to Dig Beyond Narratives and Headlines

The American political-media complex is addicted to storytelling. But not the kind rooted in truth — the kind that confirms biases, fuels outrage, and keeps them in power.

This powerful footage from the Center for Peace Communications doesn’t support their script. That’s why it’s being memory-holed.

But if we genuinely care about peace, about human suffering, and about Gazans themselves, then it’s time we start listening — unfiltered.

Seek out independent sources. Look for context, not clickbait. And when you find truth, don’t be afraid to share it — even when it cuts against the grain.

Because truth has a funny way of surfacing, no matter how many try to bury it.
