With their behavior leading up to, during, and after President Donald Trump’s congressional address—including the dramatic ouster of Rep. Al Green (D-TX) from the proceedings—Democrats have solidified their position as the “party of cringe.” Their antics continue to leave many wondering how a major political party could become so unserious.
Some Democrats Walk Out, And One Was Thrown Out
During Trump’s speech, Rep. Al Green interrupted the president, objecting to his claim that the 2024 election results represent a mandate for his agenda. His outburst prompted House Speaker Mike Johnson to swiftly order the House Sergeant-at-Arms to remove him from the chamber. The House censured Green today.
Later, several other Democrats—including Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX)—walked out mid-speech while wearing black shirts emblazoned with anti-Trump “Resist” slogans.
At the heart of these protests was Trump’s assertion that he has a clear mandate—a claim with solid backing. Trump won both the electoral and popular votes, Republicans maintained control of the House, and they secured a Senate majority. In fact, as noted by Stephen A. Smith on The View, 89% of counties across America shifted to the right. Yet, Democrats and their media allies continue to dismiss Trump’s mandate, choosing to ignore facts—a point Smith hammered home in a rare moment of honesty on a left-leaning program.
Pre- and Post-Speech Cringe
Even before the speech, Democrats were racking up cringeworthy moments.
For instance, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) coordinated a video in which over 20 Democratic senators read from an identical script, attacking Trump for not lowering food prices within his first days in office. The effort, intended as a jab at Trump, instead reinforced the “hive mind” stereotype many critics hold about the Democratic Party.
Then there was House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ awkward attempt to debunk claims that Democrats pay protesters. In a bizarre video, Jeffries denied the accusation, saying: “We don’t need paid protesters, bro.” Clearly, he was trying to sound cool, but the delivery landed with all the grace of that Steve Buscemi meme.

And let’s not forget Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s bizarre TikTok-style dance to Kendrick Lamar’s viral Super Bowl song “Not Like Us,” complete with tongue wagging. Yikes.
Even after Trump’s speech, Democrats continued their streak of embarrassing moments. A video circulated of Democratic women posing in exaggerated fighter stances in a “Choose Your Fighter” spoof, a failed attempt at looking tough that instead highlighted their lack of self-awareness.
Democrats Have a Crisis of Leadership
Green’s outburst and the subsequent walkout weren’t just one-off incidents—they were symptoms of a deeper problem. The cringe-worthy videos and chaotic antics reveal a broader crisis within the Democratic Party: a complete lack of leadership.
Whatever coordination does exist seems laughably outdated—just look at Booker’s scripted video effort. Meanwhile, Democratic House members appear completely out of control. With no strong, unifying message, the party seems rudderless. Who, if anyone, is really leading the Democrats?
Perhaps their opposition to Trump isn’t just political—it’s personal. Have Democrats become so consumed by their hatred of Trump that they reflexively reject anything he supports? That might explain why they couldn’t even applaud a young boy battling brain cancer receiving an honorary Secret Service badge during the speech.
Will Democrats Learn from This?
As the dust settles from this debacle, the question remains: Will Democrats adjust their strategy, or will they double down on their chaotic antics? If moments like Green’s ejection and Crockett’s TikTok dance are any indication, expect more of the same.
