Far-left Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) is among several “Defund the police” hypocrites who pay for private security, according to Congressional records.
According to the New York Post, Pressley, a member of “The Squad” in Congress, spent nearly $50,000 on “security services” in the latter half of 2021. The Daily Caller delved deeper, finding that Pressley spent $63,000 of her Member Representational Allowance (MRA) on “security service” in 2021.
Pressley has been an outspoken critic of law enforcement.
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) took a shot at Pressley:
“Ayanna Pressley and her fellow Squad members have repeatedly called for our police to be defunded while simultaneously paying top dollar for their own private security with taxpayer funds. All while violent crime rates are surging across our cities. Pressley and the rest of the Squad want police for them but not for us. Democrats are the party of elitist hypocrites and defunding the police. The American people know this, and that is why this November there will be a red tsunami,”
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY)
But, Pressley wasn’t the only “Defund the police” hypocrite uncovered.
- The campaign committee for Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), who continues to stand behind the “defund the police” message, spent $166,840.68 on “security services” from February to December of last year.
- Rep. Al Green (D-TX) paid over $37,000 on security services between July and December of 2021.
- Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) spent more than $77,000to both private security and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
- Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), who spent more than $41,500 in security services, including payments to DHS.
Our Take…
Hypocrites among “The Squad”? Tell us something we don’t know!
During President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address last week, he expressed support for funding the police, not defunding them. That sure did not sit well with this lot of “defund the police” hypocrites. In fact, Rep. Bush expressed her disapproval:
Lord help us, but these buffoons are actually making us defend Joe Biden. But, in this case, he’s actually right. “Defund the police” never made sense, either as a slogan or a policy. It’s a fringe policy held by the extremists in the progressive wing of the Democratic party. The policy would only hurt the vulnerable in our communities, like women, children, the elderly, or the infirmed. It would also reduce police presence in communities plagued by high crime, which can be majority-minority communities. Reforms are surely need, and probably welcomed, by many segments of life, including the police themselves. But to slash and burn budgets with no regard to what it cut is no solution to anything.
To see those advocating such an unreasonable position enjoying the privileges that come with power and influence is absolutely abhorrent. While we can definitely call this hypocrisy, we cannot deny an element of hierarchy here. These politicians hide behind private security while we little people are left to dodge bullets.
By leaving us to fend for ourselves, we must call out and expose these “defund the police” hypocrites every chance we get.
