Videos of law school buffoons surfaced on TikTok apparently angry at Judge Amy Coney Barrett fulfilling her ethical obligations of refusing to respond to hypothetical situations during her Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings.
See the stupidity for yourself.
What these students apparently do not realize is that Canon 5 of the Model Code of Judicial Conduct forbids judges / judicial candidates from indicating how they will rule on issues likely to come before the courts or making any statement that would create the appearance they are not impartial.
They’d know that if they’d bothered to do a minimal amount of research.
Still, the internet is having its fun at the expense of these “brainy” buffoons.
Our Take…
Oh, the stupid… it burns. It’s buffoonery like this that keeps lawyer jokes going strong in society.
The arrogance of a law school student is legendary. Having been one myself, they all think they are God’s gift tot he law. That is, until they hit the real world smack in the face.
These two young ladies have no appreciation for the rigidity of judicial ethics because they have not had to conduct themselves in that manner. Depending upon their level of education in law school, they are either scared to death at the monumental workload, working themselves to death, or are bored to death while waiting to take the bar exam.
If anything, the ridiculous nature of these videos show that there is no real, substantive opposition that anyone can mount against the indomitable ACB. She is a walking legal library. Even personal attacks come off as ignorant and cruel, especially from what Sen. Kennedy (R-LA) called a “butthead professor.”
For these particular buffoons, the gravity of judicial ethics displayed by ACB goes right over their heads. May they reach ACB’s level of intelligence and grace in their future endeavors.
