Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich blamed “conservative media” for distorting his deleted tweet concerning Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).
Last week, after Sinema and West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin voted against filibuster reform, Reich, a prolific member of progressive Twitter, let loose with this:
The reaction was swift and merciless.
Reich subsequently deleted the tweet, but not because he regretted his choice of words.
Reich’s explanation appears only half-right, as the idiom also means, “[t]o strike someone with the backside of one’s open hand.” Reich’s detractors seized on his explanation as well.
Our Take…
Reich is a clear hypocrite. By letting loose with this angry tweet, Reich called his standing as a “true” progressive into question by advocating striking a strong woman with whom he disagreed.
You see, the internet is indeed forever. That is why we were able to find this:
Would you look at that! In six months, Reich went from champion of women to splitting hairs on an expression of violence against a woman.
Isn’t it funny how progressives abandon principles when the going gets tough. Perhaps Reich thoughtlessly reacted to the stinging defeat of a bipartisan majority in the Senate. Or maybe Reich finally realized that Americans have turned against the Biden agenda, In any event, Reich’s… ahem, short fuse resulted in a clear unforced error on his part.
One thing we have learned here when it comes to hypocrites: when the show you who they really are, believe them.
