It’s time to reflect on those political figures and public personalities who exemplify the qualities of the “Egotist.” These are individuals with big egos, big ambitions, and the talent to match, but who ultimately stumbled on their way to the top. Let’s recap some of the year’s most irredeemable “buffoons” and why they made the cut for their overly-ambitious buffoonery.
Who Is The “Egotist?”
Gene Berardelli defines the “Egotist” in his book, Schnooks, Crooks, Liars & Scoundrels. “Egotists” are smart or clever, but their downfall comes when they start believing they’re smarter and cleverer than anyone. Also, “Egotists” lose sight of their personal and professional limitations and embrace increasing riskier political calculations. They convince themselves there’s really no risk in their decisions – and why should they? Remember, inherent in the “Egotist’s” overestimation of themselves and a corresponding underestimation of the talents and capabilities of others which brings the Egotist crashing down.
This past year, arrogance and audacity defined the political left.

The Egotists’ “Coup” Against Joe Biden
In a particularly juicy segment, the video discusses how influential figures like George Clooney and Nancy Pelosi were involved in pushing Joe Biden out of the 2024 race. Clooney penned an op-ed piece arguing that Biden should step aside for a new candidate, claiming Biden is no longer the same leader he was in 2020. This “coup” against Biden, driven by egos of big political players, served as a prime example of how internal party politics can turn into a battlefield.
But, Biden may have gotten the last laugh. His choice to pick Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s “Designee” may have been a strategic move to “get back” at those Egotists. Biden’s quick endorsement certainly quelled dissent from figures like Obama and Pelosi, ultimately locking in Harris’s nomination.
Letitia James: Prideful in the Face of Trump’s Re-emergence
New York Attorney General Letitia James also makes the list of “Egotists.” James, known for her aggressive pursuit of the once-and-futre President Donald Trump, may soon face significant legal challenges of her own. James’s rise to power through anti-Trump rhetoric may soon give way to a major fall, as President Trump’s epic come back could signal a power shift in their dynamic. Hosts Gene Berardelli and Ross Galloway even predict that her legal victories may be short-lived, especially as the Trump legal team plans to possibly make her a target for lawsuits.
Fani Willis: Legal Setbacks and Egotistical Behavior
Speaking of crumbling cases against President Donald Trump, Fulton County DA Fani Willis suffered recent legal defeats, including Willis’ removal for actions which led to an “appearance of impropriety.” Willis’ affair with Nathan Wade, an attorney Willis appointed as special prosecutor, led not only to her removal, but exposed her audacity. Now, her rise in the legal world is now tainted by her overreaching ego, and her prosecution of Trump is, most likely, dead in the water.
RFK Jr. and The Bear: An Egotist’s Prank?
Robert F. Kenedy Jr. is another figure who fits the description of an “Egotist.” The former presidential candidate and Trump ally recounted a bizarre story where RFK Jr. disclosed how he picked up a dead bear carcass, put it in his car, and eventually dumped it in Central Park. At the time, the story stirred quite a hornet’s nest of interest and remained a mystery until RFK Jr.’s disclosure.
Liz Cheney: From GOP Leader to GOP Pariah
Liz Cheney’s involvement in the January 6th hearings and her outspoken opposition to Donald Trump made her a polarizing figure. But, Cheney’s audacious endorsement of Kamala Harris, after years of vocal opposition to her rise in power, exposed Cheney’s pure ego. Now with Trump returning to the White House, Republican lawmakers are calling for a federal investigation into Cheney’s role in the aftermath of the January 6th hearings. Cheney’s own rise may now lead to a significant fall from grace.
The Audacity of Overreaching Ambitions
What ties all these” figures”Egotists” together is their inflated sense of self-worth that ultimately led to their downfall. Whether it’s media-savvy political figures or powerful legal professionals, these individuals let their egos guide their decisions, often at the expense of their long-term success. As we head into 2025, it’s clear that egotism, unchecked, can lead to some major missteps.
