Welcome to another episode of political gaslighting, starring MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, CNN’s Jake Tapper, and their media ecosystem more interested in protecting narratives than informing the public.
Despite mounting evidence of President Joe Biden’s cognitive and physical decline which many of us called out in real time, partisan media hacks like MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Jake Tapper still refuse to admit their roles and their past praise of Biden was misleading.
Scarborough Stands Behind “Best Biden Ever” Clip
On a recent segment of his online show, Democrat Mark Halperin confronted “Morning Joe” Scarborough about his infamous claim that Biden was “best Biden ever” weeks before the former president withdrew from the 2024 election.
When challenged with the clip, Scarborough, incredibly, maintained his stance. He cited personal conversations and anecdotal impressions, brushing off the clear history of Biden’s public stumbles. Even when Halperin pressed Scarborough on his exaggerated claims, highlighting moments when Biden’s cognitive issues were obvious, Scarborough deflected, using classic “whataboutism” to reference President Donald Trump’s missteps instead.
Megyn Kelly Makes Jake “Tap” Out
Jake Tapper came under harsher fire. As discussed during last week’s Buffoonology 101 show, Tapper fact-checked, and even mocked, anyone who voiced their own real-time observations of Biden’s mental struggles. That is, until Tapper cashed in with a book co-authored with fellow hack Alex Thompson.
Now, we hear about town hall cover-ups pointing to those same viral gaffes which people Tapper had previously mocked had pointed out months prior.
A perfect example of this sort of gaslighting after-the-fact is an excerpt in Tapper’s book discussing Biden’s campaign faked events
Co-Author Alex Thompson appeared on CNN (Tapper’s own network) and confirmed that in the spring of 2024, the Biden campaign organized a “town hall” with staged supporters that was closed to the press, and intended to be used as B-Roll for future ads. The staged “event” turned into a fiasco because, according to sources, Biden failed to articulate coherent thoughts in the nearly two hours of filming.
But back to Tapper: he and Thompson appeared on Megyn Kelly’s online show, and to say things got awkward would be an understatement! Kelly called Tapper out on the carpet for his failure to hold Biden accountable for his promises of transparency when it came to his state of health, and for his mockery of those who called out Biden’s decline long before Tapper’s book existed. Tapper offered some mild pushback, which only made Kelly even angrier, as she chided Tapper for his willful refusal to do his job.
Hacks Never Admit They’re Wrong
As Gene Berardelli discusses in his book, Schnooks, Crooks, Liars & Scoundrels, the Buffoon he identifies as a “Hack” do not just report events, they create them. Lies by omission, straw man arguments, and fact-shading are among the tools employed by Hacks in creating an “aesthetic fallacy” ; a set of selected facts used to build into a “beautiful story” rather than report facts functional to empirical truths.
Here, hacks like Scarborough, Tapper, and others created the “aesthetic fallacy” that Biden was not only competent, but the “best Biden ever.” They protected that narrative by mocking those who disagreed with the narrative and discrediting their position with derision until Biden had outlived his political usefulness. They also consistently resorted to “whataboutisms;” comparing Biden’s behavior to Trump’s, rather than addressing Biden’s condition directly. Even now, Scarborough and Tapper choose to “die with the lie,” that they only recently discovered this cover-up – a cover-up which they seemingly perpetuated.
Scarborough and Tapper Lied To You!
This is why you should not take media “hacks” like Scarborough, Tapper, and others seriously. Their refusal to own past mistakes or admit complicity in misleading the public disqualifies them from credible commentary. When media outlets protect power instead of holding it accountable, you are the one left in the dark.
While the scandal surrounding who knew what and when about Biden’s condition is extremely important to continue investigating, we cannot forget the media’s complicity in hiding it.
Scarborough’s stubbornness isn’t loyalty. It’s delusion.
Tapper’s venom was not a mistake. It was a plan.
If this is journalism, what would propaganda even look like to these buffoons? We deserve better than this political theater masquerading as journalism.
