It’s a generational clash of the clueless! We’re pitting Rep. LaMonica McIver vs. former FBI Director James Comey for this week’s dubious distinction of Buffoon of the Week.
Each week on Buffoonology 101, we nominate two public figures whose absurdity, hypocrisy, or flat-out nonsense earns them a shot at our infamous title: Buffoon of the Week. This time, it’s a generational showdown of epic proportions.
Gene Berardelli and Ross Galloway introduced their latest nominees in this week’s clash of the clueless: first-term Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) versus longtime political lightning rod and former FBI Director James Comey.
But before we break down this match-up of rookie versus veteran buffoon, let’s take a look at how last week’s showdown ended.
Voters “Tapped” Jake for Buffoon of the Week

Gene and Ross kicked things off by celebrating another record-breaking turnout — 149 votes — in the weekly Buffoon of the Week poll, with video views topping 2,000 across platforms.
But the celebration quickly turned into a squabble.
Gene accused Ross of shady tactics after a suspicious spike in online votes for Ross’s nominee, Diddy, overnight. Ross volleyed back with mock accusations of voter fraud. Despite the drama, Gene’s pick, Jake Tapper, trounced Diddy by a 70–30% margin, reinforcing Gene’s claim that “the system works.”
Gene’s Nomination: Rep. LaMonica McIver
Gene nominated freshman Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver of New Jersey, citing her rapid transformation from firebrand to victim following a felony assault charge stemming from a confrontation at an ICE detention facility.
At the heart of Gene’s case: hypocrisy. Before her arrest, McIver made headlines with militant rhetoric outside the ICE facility, shouting “we are at war” with the Trump administration. But in a subsequent CNN interview, her tone shifted dramatically as she cast herself as a victim of government overreach — despite bodycam footage showing her throwing elbows at an ICE officer.
Gene didn’t let it slide, sarcastically asking how physical aggression qualifies as “congressional oversight.”
Ross ran McIver through the show’s patented Scharpton Buffoonery Matrix™, which is a visual representation of the relationship between a nominee’s Buffoonish Nature (BuN) to the Buffoonish Action Magnitude (BAM):
- BuN (Buffoonish Nature): 59 (McIver’s off to a prodigious start)
- BAM (Buffoonish Action Magnitude): 45.47 Giga-Sharptons™ (If convicted, does that make her a war prisoner?)
Ross’s Nomination: James Comey
Ross came out swinging with a blistering nomination of former FBI Director James Comey, framing him as a career manipulator whose craving for the spotlight has consistently undermined trust in American institutions.
He opened by mocking a recent Instagram post by Comey, in which he shared a photo of seashells mysteriously arranged into the numbers “86 47” — interpreted by some as a coded threat toward former President Donald Trump. The post marked the second time Comey claimed to have stumbled upon politically suggestive seashells on a beach.

Crazy coincidence, right?
The Secret Service didn’t think so. They brought Comey in for questioning at their Washington field office, given the clear implications amid a history of assassination attempts on Trump.
Ross called this latest Comey beach post symbolic of his entire public persona: implausible behavior packaged with moral superiority and spoon-fed to a public he seems to think is gullible.
“He lies,” Ross said, “and he thinks you’re stupid enough to believe these lies.”
Then Ross raised the stakes: Comey, he argued, didn’t just stretch the truth — he weaponized institutions. Citing the politicization of the FBI and the reputational damage done to others under his watch, Ross called Comey “an evil man” and “a threat to democracy.” Not because of one decision, but because of a broader pattern of self-serving ambition.
To top it off, Ross roasted Comey’s post-government book tour, calling him “just another loser trying to sell a book,” leveraging scandal for personal profit while claiming righteousness.
Comey scored big on the Scharpton Buffoonery Matrix™:
- BuN (Buffoonish Nature): 82 (He’s kind of a big deal in Buffoonery)
- BAM (Buffoonish Action Magnitude): 37.12 Giga-Sharptons™ (He loves the spotlight — no matter why it’s on him)
